At the time of writing, Peru is my favourite Country that I’ve visited. The show stopping attraction is obviously Machu Picchu, and being able to see this ancient wonder with my own eyes is difficult to put into words. Peru’s rugged topography creates some of the most dramatic visuals that you’ll find anywhere in the world.
The strength of the culinary scene is particularly impressive – the seafood, in particular the ceviche, is to die for. Lima tends to be the hop on point when visiting Peru and when you are there, be sure to grab a lunch reservation La Mar for a feast of the finest seafood. Away from the bustling capital, you’ll no doubt fall for the charm of Cusco, in its spectacular mountain setting. Cusco is also the gateway to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu itself. If authentic culture is more your thing, don’t pass up on the unique, warm and friendly homestay experience on the Uros Islands. Peru is a country with the capacity to create so many memories to last a lifetime.
